Abstract: Presents model for Weichselian deglaciation of Oppdal area of central Norway. Addresses: 1) extension and ice-surface gradient of inland ice sheet during different stages of deglaciation; and 2) attempts to relate these glacial surfaces to currently accepted deglaciation model for Sør-Trøndelag and Møre & Romsdal counties. Reviews current models and presents glacial geomorphological evidence including lateral moraine distribution, glacial meltwater forms and glaciofluvial deposits. Reconstructs glacier profile and concludes northerly ice flow during final phase of Weichselian deglaciation was followed during late Younger Dryas by westerly flow from glacial dome east of Oppdal. Discusses implications for chronology and other models.
