Record #167699:

Low-down on a rhythmic high / Katharina Billups.

Title: Low-down on a rhythmic high / Katharina Billups.
Author(s): Billups, Katharina.
Date: 2004.
In: Nature. (2004.), Vol. 427(6976) (2004)
Abstract: News report on work of Liu and Herbert (same volume) on tropical sea surface temperature (SST) and marine productivity variations over past 1.8 Myr and their apparent link with high-latitude processes. Reviews principles of climate reconstruction from geological record and sets Liu's and Herbert's work in context of global climate change. Notes inferred low-latitude SST variations slightly lead, and are therefore not produced by, changes in ice sheet volume and points to couplings between high and low latitudes via oceanic or atmospheric circulations. Suggests findings may be significant for understanding onset of glacial-interglacial cycles around 3 million years ago.
