Satellite detection of ice melt over the Arctic Ocean / Yong-Seung Cheung, Hao Le.
Title: | Satellite detection of ice melt over the Arctic Ocean / Yong-Seung Cheung, Hao Le. |
Author(s): | Cheung, Yong-Seung. Le, Hao. |
Date: | 2004. |
In: | International Journal of Remote Sensing. (2004.), Vol. 25(2) (2004) |
Abstract: | Discusses satellite observations of ice melt over Arctic Ocean over period 1 January 1992 to 30 June 1999. Presents SSMI imagery from 1995, 1998 and 1999 showing pronounced ice melts compared to those which occurred in previous 20-30 years. Claims these as evidence of "global warming" in recent decades, and briefly discusses thinning of old ice with each passing year, effects on sea-routes, etc. Contains no discussion of methods or animation of 2654 images referred to in text. |
Notes: | International Journal of Remote Sensing. Vol. 25(2) :291-296 (2004). |
