| Abstract: | Reports results of joint US-Russia-Japan research on west plateau of Belukha Glacier in the Altai Mountains from 2001 to 2003. Presents observations of mass balance, surface level changes, surface flow velocity, meteorological and climatological data. Snow pits were dug, and a shallow (21 m) ice core covering 8 years extracted; results to be published elsewhere. Work is intended to aid analysis of 171 m ice core extracted in July 2003 by same team. |
