An estimate of spatial ratios for preferential water flow in a melting snowpack / Shiqiao Zhou, Hideki Narita, Keisuke Suzuki, Masayoshi Nakawo.
Title: | An estimate of spatial ratios for preferential water flow in a melting snowpack / Shiqiao Zhou, Hideki Narita, Keisuke Suzuki, Masayoshi Nakawo. |
Author(s): | Zhou, Shiqiao. Narita, Hideki. Suzuki, Keisuke. Nakawo, Masayoshi. |
Date: | 2004. |
In: | Bulletin of Glaciological Research. (2004.), Vol. 21 (2004) |
Abstract: | Examines preferential flow channels in melting snowpack. Explores spatial ratio of these by analyzing diurnal solute concentration variations of discharge. Describes measurement, sampling and analysis of meltwater from snowpack in Hokkaido, Japan during spring 1989. Based on eluted solute amount in one day in late melt season, estimates spatial ratio of preferential flow channels to whole pore volume at below 32%, 13% for main channels and 19% for non-main channels. |
