Stability of drifting snow-type perennial snow patches / G.E. Glazirin, Y. Kodama, T. Ohata.
Title: | Stability of drifting snow-type perennial snow patches / G.E. Glazirin, Y. Kodama, T. Ohata. |
Author(s): | Glazirin, G. E. Kodama, Y. Ohata, T. |
Date: | 2004. |
In: | Bulletin of Glaciological Research. (2004.), Vol. 21 (2004) |
Abstract: | Investigates feedbacks that may stabilize perennial snow patches. Examines whether those proposed as a result of studies in Pamirs by first author apply also in Japan. Reviews ablation and accumulation feedbacks and studies of snow patches (Hisago, Hamaguri and Kaigata) in Japan. Examines dependences of accumulation and ablation on snow patch area and depth, concluding that negative feedbacks exist, most clearly between snow patch area and specific accumulation. Advocates continued monitoring of snow patches as indicators of climate. |
