Record #167520:

Death in the grizzly maze / Nick Jans.

Title: Death in the grizzly maze / Nick Jans.
Author(s): Jans, Nick.
Date: 2004.
In: Alaska. (2004.), Vol. 70(1) (2004)
Abstract: Describes deaths of Timothy Treadwell and Amie Huguenard in Katmai National Park, to set record straight. Treadwell was self-styled Dr Dolittle of bears: "Sort of guy most Alaskans love to hate. You don't crawl around Kodiak Island, singing to bears .. Thumper, Mr Chocolate". Their fate was probably anthropomorphic error; he forgot they were bears, they forgot for a time he was human. Old, dominant males attack and often eat subordinates that refuse to move.
