| Abstract: | Presents analysis of length-frequency dataset (with associated otoliths) exhibiting distinct juvenile modes; and set of otoliths from recaptured Dissostichus mawsoni previously injected with oxytetracycline. Counts of translucent zones were consistent within modes, and increased by one in each consecutive mode, indicating that one translucent zone is formed annually in otoliths of juveniles. Sagittal otoliths from fish injected with oxytetracycline from one to seven years previous to recapture indicate that one translucent zone is also formed annually in otoliths of post-mature \Dissostichus mawsoni. |
