Record #167286:
Species identification and age estimation for the ridge-scaled macrourid (Macrourus whitsoni) from the Ross Sea / P. Marriott, P.L. Horn, P. McMillan.
Title: | Species identification and age estimation for the ridge-scaled macrourid (Macrourus whitsoni) from the Ross Sea / P. Marriott, P.L. Horn, P. McMillan. |
Author(s): | Marriott, P. Horn, P. L. McMillan, P. |
Date: | 2003. |
In: | CCAMLR Science. (2003.), Vol. 10 (2003) |
Abstract: | Provides estimates of a number of productivity parameters for Macrourus whitsoni, macrourid rattail by-catch from toothfish fishery in Ross Sea, including von Bertalanffy growth parameters, instantaneous natural mortality, age at maturity, and comparative regressions for snout-vent length, total length, and weight. Macrourus whitsoni appears to be slow-growing and long-lived, with 50% of fish sexually mature at 12-14 years, and living to at least 50 years. |
