| Abstract: | Examines chemical composition and particle-size distributions in samples from till of various ages in Ostrobothnia (Pohjanmaa), western Finland. Reviews effects of bedrock on geochemistry and lithology and record of glaciation. Describes study area and sampling methods, including separation and leaching of fine fraction. Presents distribution of major and trace elements. Examines effect of particle size on element distribution. Discusses results in terms of three distinct till beds in Ostrobothnia, which form continuous stratigraphic sequence at Mertuanoja in Ylivieska. Compares results from different till units in terms of history and conditions of deposition. |
