| Abstract: | Examines forms of sulphur in parent soils in glaciated terrains using various extraction methods. Discusses factors affecting fate of sulphur in soil profiles. Describes Pirkanmaa study region, characterized by overburden of ca. 5 m thick glacial till, sampling methods, grain size determination and chemical analysis. Presents results from seven profiles obtained using four selective leaches: water-soluble, sodiumdihydrogenphosphate, ammonium acetate and ammoniumoxalate. Finds no correlation between mobile sulphur components and total sulphur content, and, unexpectedly, that depth is not dominant control on weathering and oxidation. |
