Abstract: Describes four important articles in this issue: two on Alaska Natives, one on Greenland Inuit, one on Kivalliq Inuit of Northern Canada. All share escalating burdens of degenerative chronic disease - diabetes and cardiovascular risk and disease associated with dynamic and drastic changes in diet, activities and cleanness of air, land and water. Problems of motivating research involvement arise from previous studies that brought no local benefit.
