| Abstract: | Collates information on breeding success of seabirds at sub-Antarctic Marion Island in 1997/98 season which was unusual for most monitored species. Breeding was exceptionally good for those capable of foraging over wide areas, but gentoo penguins and Crozet shags which feed close to island had particularly poor breeding season. Discusses association of unusual breeding season with El Niño Southern Oscillation (ENSO) event of same period. |
