Researchers discuss abrupt climate change: ice sheets and oceans in action / Trond Dokken, John Andrews, Sidney Hemming, Chris Stokes, Eystein Jansen.

Title: Researchers discuss abrupt climate change: ice sheets and oceans in action / Trond Dokken, John Andrews, Sidney Hemming, Chris Stokes, Eystein Jansen.
Author(s): Dokken, Trond.
Andrews, John.
Hemming, Sidney.
Stokes, Chris.
Jansen, Eystein.
Date: 2003.
In: Eos : transactions, American Geophysical Union. (2003.), Vol. 84(20) (2003)
Abstract: Report of meeting of Ice Sheet-Ocean Interaction working group set up within International Marine Past Global Changes Study (IMAGES) program to answer questions concerning Heinrich events. Report briefly sets Heinrich events (massive discharges into North Atlantic of ice-rafted debris) within context of rapid climate fluctuations during last glacial period. Outlines potential roles in these events of ice streams and iceberg debris entrainment, production and drift. Asks what triggered Heinrich events and lists working group's recommendations to further research. Meeting held in Boulder, Colorado, December 2002.
