| Abstract: | Describes observations made on Lake Kussharo, Japan to study formation and growth of thermal ice ridges (omiwatari). Reports ice plate movements relative to shoreline measured over several weeks by a potentiometer method. Observations were made in latter half of freezing season, when thicker ice resulted in small movements related to diurnal temperature variations and large ones related to cycle of three cold and four warm days. |
