Abstract: Estimates wind influence on sea ice drift velocities in region offshore of Sakhalin. Analyses ice drift (measured by coastal radar) and wind velocity vectors, estimating maximum and average non-tidal components of ice drift. Reports wind velocities and residual component of ice drift highly correlated and derives linear transformation matrices representing relationship between them at various sites. Presents these as ellipses showing ice drift velocities corresponding to wind speed of 1 ms⁻¹ blowing from 360° range of directions. Drift velocities are typically a few percent of wind velocity and, depending on site, vary by factors of 4.5 to 14 through range of directions.
