Abstract: Describes component of visco-plastic constitutive model of polycrystalline ice dealing with plastic deformation of intact, i.e., undamaged, ice. Motivation is to model effects of cyclical loading associated with ice-structure interaction. Modifies classical plasticity theory to accommodate dependencies on time, temperature and material anisotropy in plastic flow. Describes model rationale and assumptions and compares theoretical predictions of cyclic tests on ice with actual test results. Finds model predictions in good agreement with laboratory measurements, particularly those of cyclic hysteresis stress-strain loops and accumulated permanent strains. Reports preliminary results of model's application to ice-structure collision problems (ice hummock colliding with conical offshore structure)
