| Abstract: | Presents simulation of impact of strong ocean tides on sea ice in Sea of Okhotsk. Describes new coupled ice-ocean model and grid designed to accommodate large tidal amplitudes. Summarises sources of data for intializing ocean temperature and salinity and sea ice concentration, and forcing tides and meteorological conditions. Reports good agreement between simulated and observed tides, noting tidal impact on temperature and salinity over Kasherov Bank. Compares results of ocean-ice coupled model with and without tidal forcing, noting features possibly attributable to tidal impact, such as Kasherov polynya. |
