Abstract: | Compares methods of estimating sea ice thickness in southernmost Sea of Okhotsk based on passive microwave radiometer SSM/I and AVHRR thermal infrared data. Discusses data sources and choice of test site in Terpeniya Bay, off Sakhalin. Explains first author's published method using SSM/I data in some detail and summarises two methods using AVHRR data. Finds correlation between results from SSM/I and AVHRR methods greatest for 1-day lag (does not say which lags which, but attributes effect to thermal conduction of ice) and negative without lag (unexplained). References not listed. Pages possibly missing. |
