| Abstract: | Examines concentration and size distribution of microparticles in 2503-m deep ice core from Dome Fuji, Antarctica. Uses molten ice samples in light-scattering laser particle counter to minimize contamination and miscounting. Provides detailed description of method, evaluating it (estimating 10% accuracy) and comparing it with conventional Coulter Counter method. Presents profiles of number and volume concentration through core depth. Discusses changes in size distribution through three glacial cycles over past 320 k-yr.
