| Abstract: | Analyses high-resolution elevation data to describe Palaeic relief, characterised by limited glacial erosion, of Kjølen Mountains area of Norway. Seeks to identify Palaeic surfaces using digital terrain model (DTM), examine forms of major incised valleys, and investigate relation between large scale landforms and bedrock structures and lineations. Also calculates glacial erosion. Reviews glacial development of Scandinavia with particular reference to study area and describes DTM. Identifies three distinct stepped palaeosurfaces with fluvial origin in response to successive uplift events and describes main incised valleys. Reconstructs glacial reshaping of surfaces and valleys, calculating glacial deepening of main valleys of 100-300 m and widening of up to 1500 m. |
