Anthropogenic trace metals in an ice core at Vestfonna, Svalbard, Norway / Sumito Matoba, Hideaki Motoyama, Hideki Narita, Okitsugu Watanabe.
Title: | Anthropogenic trace metals in an ice core at Vestfonna, Svalbard, Norway / Sumito Matoba, Hideaki Motoyama, Hideki Narita, Okitsugu Watanabe. |
Author(s): | Matoba, Sumito. Motoyama, Hideaki. Narita, Hideki. Watanabe, Okitsugu. |
Date: | 2003. |
In: | Chinese Journal of Polar Science. (2003.), Vol. 14(1) (2003) |
Abstract: | Reports measurements of heavy metals in 211 m ice core obtained from Vestfonna Ice Cap, Svalbard in 1995. Describes core sampling, chemical analysis using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP/MS) and determination of core chronology and accumulation rate. Evaluates temporal variations of anthropogenic substances in Svalbard and concludes from ratio of Cu, Zn, and Pb that emissions originated in Europe rather than North America. |
