A hybrid climatology of snow water equivalent over the northern Great Plains of the United States / Andrew Grundstein, Thomas Mote, Daniel Leathers.

Title: A hybrid climatology of snow water equivalent over the northern Great Plains of the United States / Andrew Grundstein, Thomas Mote, Daniel Leathers.

In: Polar Geography. (2002.), Vol. 26(3) (2002)
Abstract: Presents methodology for developing long-term, high resolution climatology of snow water equivalent (SWE) over northern Great Plains of United States. Derives this from combination of model output and snow depth observations. Generates snowpack densities for sites across study region with mass and energy balance snowpack model SNTHERM. Uses modelled snow densities in conjunction with snow depths from over 800 cooperative daily observing stations to compute SWE values. Evaluates hybrid SWE climatology, using hybrid SWE values to discuss spatial and temporal climatological patterns of water content.
