| Abstract: | Presents results of recent algorithm development to estimate snow water equivalent (SWE) in boreal forest landscape. Seeks to complement and extend ground-based measurements of snow properties to regional and global scales. Examines relationships between airborne microwave measurements and SWE, using ground measurements acquired during February 1994 BOREAS winter field campaign in western Canada. Presents two linear algorithms based on microwave vertically polarized difference index (MPDI) and developed separately for deciduous and coniferous forest types. |
