| Abstract: | Reports glacier variations recorded over periods 1930-1960, 1960-1990 and 1999-2000. In 2000, variations were recorded at 47 locations. One terminus (of a surge-type glacier) advanced, 4 were stationary and 40 retreated. Measurements could not be made at two locations. Summarises regional temperature, precipitation and mass balance variations. Presents summer and winter mass balances and equilibrium line altitudes recorded on five glaciers (Sátujökull, Thjórsárjökull, Blágnípujökull, Thrándarjökull and Eyjabakkajökull) during 1987-2000. |
