| Abstract: | Reviews previous datings of Fláajökull moraines and compares them with new lichenometric data. Uses glaciological measurements, map based on aerial photographs from 1946, aerial photographs from 1989, historical data and information from neighbouring glaciers. Reports difficulty matching lichenometry to published growth curves, possibly attributable to colonisation lag following glacier retreat. Finds Fláajökull has retreated over 1500 m from Little Ice Age maximum and observes clear correlation between retreat and 20th Century climatic fluctuations. |
