| Abstract: | Programme aims to understand recent atmospheric, oceanic and terrestrial changes occurring in the Arctic and the way that these changes are connected with the Arctic Oscillation (AO). Changes include a decline in sea level atmospheric pressure, increase in surface air temperature, cyclonic ocean circulation and a decrease in sea-ice cover. Physical changes affect ecosystems and human population and have social and economic impacts. Report based on SEARCH Science Plan and SEARCH Implementation Framework including input from the Arctic Hydrology Workshop 2001, the ACCA Workshop 2001, the Arctic Ocean Measurements and Modeling Workshop 2002, the SEARCH Terrestrial and Marine Ecosystem Workshop and the SEARCH Human Dimensions Workshop. |
