Sediment reworking on high-latitude continental margins and its implications for palaeoceanographic studies: insights form the Norwegian-Greenland Sea / Colm Ó Cofaigh, and 6 others.

Title: Sediment reworking on high-latitude continental margins and its implications for palaeoceanographic studies: insights form the Norwegian-Greenland Sea / Colm Ó Cofaigh, and 6 others.
Author(s): Ó Cofaigh, Colm.
Date: 2002.
Publisher: London: Geological Society
In: Glacier-influenced sedimentation on high-latitude continental margins. (2002.),
Abstract: Describes geological evidence for sediment reworking in marine cores from high-latitude margins influenced strongly by glacier ice; the continental margins and deep-marine environment of Norwegian-Greenland Sea. Reports recovery and analysis of 22 cores from a variety of locations, from shelf to abyssal plain, including Greenland Basin, Bear Island and Scoresby Sund trough mouth fans, Vøring and Iceland plateaux and Blosseville Basin. Documents contrasting geological signatures of sediment reworking and relates these to wider environmental controls such as ice-sheet extent and bottom-current activity. Discusses implications of results for palaeoceanographic investigations in the Norwegian-Greenland Sea and for reconstructing palaeoenvironmental change from the ice-rafted debris record.
