Record #165811:

Late Quaternary sedimentation in Kejser Franz Joseph Fjord and the continental margin of East Greenland / J. Evans, and 6 others.

Title: Late Quaternary sedimentation in Kejser Franz Joseph Fjord and the continental margin of East Greenland / J. Evans, and 6 others.
Author(s): Evans, J.
Date: 2002.
Publisher: London: Geological Society
In: Glacier-influenced sedimentation on high-latitude continental margins. (2002.),
Abstract: Investigates marine sedimentary record from northern East Greenland (Kejser Franz Joseph Fjord and adjacent continental margin) in order to: (1) characterize glacimarine sedimentation along transect from middle-outer fjord to continental slope; (2) reconstruct Late Quaternary glacial history and sedimentation for this region; and (3) place study within context of sedimentation and glacier fluctuations in East Greenland and Polar North Atlantic. Describes physiography, bathymetry, glaciology and oceanography of study area and acquisition of acoustic sounding data and gravity cores. Presents core lithofacies and chronologies. Concludes that Greenland Ice Sheet reached mid-continental shelf during Last Glacial Maximum.
