| Abstract: | Combines relative sea level (RSL) and seabed topographic data to examine deglacial history of Jakobshavns Isbrae. Presents new RSL curve based on isolation basin and salt-marsh data from Qeqertarsuatsiaq and Umivik, neighbouring islands in west Disko Bugt. Combines with comparable records from north and south of former course of Jakobshavns Isbrae. Examines calving velocities and ice discharge during glaciation using simple water depth/calving velocity relationship. Concludes rapid deglaciation after 10.3 ka cal. yr BP caused by ice stream thinning and increased surface melting, with critical point being retreat from shallow continental shelf into deep bedrock trough at entrance to Disko Bugt.
