Abstract: Knuth, 1903-1996, is one of Greenland research's notable figures. He it was that found first sign of a little Eskimo strain that pushed North-east Greenland's prehistory 2000 years further back. Personality was devil-may-care and quite impossible, brilliantly talented as wood engraver, sculptor, journalist or writer, but it was archaeology and its depiction that seized him, from Peary Land Expedition 1947-50, with friend Ebbe Munck. He made over 40 visits to Greenland between 1932 and 1995.
