Abstract: Report of Nansen's opinion that if expedition had sufficient provisions and stayed with ice-bound vessel, Jeannette would have drifted with current into Atlantic Ocean. Nansen proposes to go as far north as possible and then freeze suitably-provisioned ship into ice and drift with current. Given to the 9 May 1890 meeting of the Geographical Society of Paris by the Commissioner of Norway at the Paris International Exhibition of 1889.
