Abstract: Letter to 2 March meeting of Geographical Society of Paris confirming that Russian government will commence survey for railway line between Lake Baikal and Sretensk. Should this line and projected line between Tomsk and Irkutsk be constructed, use of fluvial system Ob', Upper Tunguska, Shilka, Amur, and Lake Baikal would enable Russia in Europe could be connected without break to Pacific Ocean.
