Abstract: Report in 1885 by Captain Johannesen of reaching island to east of Spitsbergen at 80° 10'N., 32° 3'E., believed to be Hvide Ø reported by Captain Kjeldsen and in 1884 by Captain Sörensen. Confirms existence of archipelago extending from Spitsbergen to Franz Josef Land, preventing polar ice from entering Barents Sea, and consequently influencing of climate of northern Europe; information taken from Ymer.
