Abstract: Report, reprinted from Science, of 1887 exploration of northern British Columbia and tributaries of Upper Yukon. From Fort Wrangel, original party went to Cassian on Stikine river; William W. Ogilvie made instrumental survey from sea coast via Lewis river up Yukon to 141st meridian, and continued down river, intending to winter there before returning by Mackenzie river and Hudson's Bay route to Winnipeg. Dawson and party went from Dease Lake along Dease river to junction with Liard, one party descending and surveying Liard and Mackenzie rivers. Dawson went up Liard and Francis rivers to Francis Lake, descended Pelly to junction with Lewis river, making geological survey of country while ascending this. See also Royal Geographical Society.
