Abstract: Brief account to Geographical Society of Paris. Crossed island from south to north through Sprengisandr by pony, bringing back for analysis possible traces of trees from silica beds around geyser basins; concludes that exceptional cold in August 1885 caused by icebergs remaining stationary on north coast.
