Abstract: Maintains that use of Hudson's Strait, while giving a slight travel time advantage, would be outweighed by dangers (including that to immigrant ships) of short ice-free period compared with use of the Great Lakes; followed by discussion and of papers by Macoun (ibid., p.727), Bell (ibid., p.727-728) and Sutherland (ibid., p.728).
