Abstract: Germania frozen in from mid-September, sending out sledging parties to explore mainland and shoot deer and muskox. Hansa crushed by ice in late October and crew took refuge in hut previously built on ice floe; after this floe split, lived in smaller hut and eventually ships' boats, drifting north-west and south-east until coming within reach of land and more open water, enabling arrival at southern Greenland Moravian mission station in April; followed by discussion.
