Record #164695:

Inter-annual variability in the breeding performance of seabirds in relation to oceanographic anomalies that affect the Crozet and the Kerguelen sectors of the Southern Ocean / Pablo Inchausti, and seven others.

Title: Inter-annual variability in the breeding performance of seabirds in relation to oceanographic anomalies that affect the Crozet and the Kerguelen sectors of the Southern Ocean / Pablo Inchausti, and seven others.
Author(s): Inchausti, Pablo.
Date: 2003.
In: Journal of Avian Biology. (2003.), Vol. 34(2) (2003)
Abstract: Describes effect of sea surface temperature (SST) anomalies in Indian Ocean sector of Southern Ocean on breeding success of eight seabird species. Species foraging mainly south of Polar Front were adversely affected by warm SST in winter and spring, whereas warm SST anomalies were associated with higher breeding success for species foraging mainly north of Polar Front. Two species foraging mainly on Kerguelen plateau were unaffected by SST anomalies. Discusses results in relation to biological effects of predicted latitudinal shift of frontal structures in Southern Ocean associated with global warming.
