The elevation history of ice streams and the spatial accumulation pattern along the Siple Coast of West Antarctica inferred from ground-based radar data from three inter-ice-stream ridges / N.A. Nereson, C.F. Raymond.
Title: | The elevation history of ice streams and the spatial accumulation pattern along the Siple Coast of West Antarctica inferred from ground-based radar data from three inter-ice-stream ridges / N.A. Nereson, C.F. Raymond. |

Abstract: | Examines past ice-stream activity and large scale pattern of thickness change across Siple Coast by investigating current geometry and stratigraphy of inter-stream ridges. Presents ice- penetrating radar and GPS survey measurements on three inter-stream ridges. Internal layers, with up-warping associated with ice divides, appear in profiles over all ridges. One divide- bump is broad and offset from current divide, suggesting significant divide migration has occurred. Uses kinematic ice-flow model to infer histories of divide positions and spatial accumulation patterns. Attributes northward divide motion to relative thinning of adjacent ice streams rather than changes in accumulation and infers relative elevation histories, for example a 100 m thinning of Ice Stream B relative to Ice Stream C in less than 10³ a. |
