Describes sampling debris from icebergs frozen in sea ice in a Svalbard fjord, presents data from twelve upturned icebergs and interprets them in terms of sedimentary characteristics and nature of glacier bed. Concedes that calving processes at grounding line may alter sedimentary content of icebergs and that glacier bed is poorly sampled. Large populations of icebergs would be required to make meaningful inferences of tidewater glacier dynamics.
