Abstract: Intended as contribution to avalanche prediction on a regional scale. Investigates how, on two different days in winter 1996/97 at a site in Bridger Range, Montana, snow stability varied in relation to terrain, snowpack and snow strength. Finds stability decreases with increasing altitude and is lower the more northerly the aspect. Identifies neglect of wind effects as weakness.
