Abstract: Presents 180 year records of C₂O₄²⁻, Ca²⁺, NH₄²⁺ and δ¹⁸O from 1997 Everest ice core. Compares C₂O₄²⁻ records with history of anthropogenic emissions. Highest concentrations (in 1950s-80s) are three times higher than 19th Century background. Recent emission controls may account for lower 1990s C₂O₄²⁻ concentrations.
