| Abstract: | Several short pieces describe reindeer herding in Jotunheim mountains by Norwegians, with character sketches and explanations of slaughter methods. 2002 was bad year for radioactivity in reindeer meat, still from Chernobyl fallout, over 3 000 Bq, and 29% of calves slaughtered had to be dumped. As in 1997, another recent bad year, dry summer led to increased consumption of lichen. |
