Abstract: Describes results of authors' research into actual or most likely of several placenames, with meanings. Similar features get similar names all over West Greenland, but locals use their versions in describing hunts and journeys. Some surprising ones, such as "variable lake", are correct, as ice phenomena cause huge variations in level. Inland features are usually unnamed. Table gives some frequencies.
