Abstract: | Nanortalik Museum and Sila carried out archaeological reconnaissance along part of West Greenland coast in 2001. Aim was to fix date of Inuit arrival. Itilleq was most southerly Norse settlement. Includes survey of 20th Cent. habitation of island, by East Greenlanders and their descendants. Stone chippings are ascribed to Dorset Culture, 700 BC to 1300 AD. 12-13 localities in all have been seen as Palaeoeskimo, 10 in Narsaq municipality. |
