Record #163794:

Bioprospecting and biotechnology in Antarctica / David S. Nichols, and 9 others.

Title: Bioprospecting and biotechnology in Antarctica / David S. Nichols, and 9 others.
Author(s): Nichols, David S.
Date: 2001.
In: Antarctic CRC. Research Report. (2001.), Vol. 28 (2001)
Abstract: Provides overview of Australian bioprospecting in Antarctic soils of Vestfold Hills and sub-Antarctic Macquarie Island, and in sea ice. High proportion of isolates represent novel biodiversity, and biotechnological opportunities have been identified in areas of novel Actinobacteria, production of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), and cold-active enzymes. In special issue The Antarctic: past, present and future.
