Abstract: Landfill gas emissions were measured at three landfills in Northern Sweden and Northern Finland. Several strategies for mesuring in winter were tested, with static chambers most successful. Winter measurements could be made at soil surface after removing snow. Seasonal variation was seen. Variations in methane oxidation are likely reason. Dried soil in late summer also decreased methane emission.
