Abstract: Many of Laestadius's (L3's) followers were song writers on pilgrimage to "Heavenly Sion". Article describes three recent song books: "Vekter-ropet" (1977 revision of old book), "Det gamle Vekterrop!" (1993 for post-split Lyngen Laestadians (L), and "Aandelige sanger" (1990 revision of version around Alta). Article surveys their theological characteristics and relationship to L3's own understanding. Parts: pietistic heritage; L song tradition; L3 and L songs. Herrnhut piety can be described as "defensive", while L piety may be either defensive or offensive (active)
