Record #163571:

"Kirken - en oppfostringsanstalt for buken". Lars Levi Laestadius' (L3's) Kirke- og prestekritikk / Øyvind Norderval.

Title: "Kirken - en oppfostringsanstalt for buken". Lars Levi Laestadius' (L3's) Kirke- og prestekritikk / Øyvind Norderval.
Translated title: "The Church - a feeding trough for the belly". Lars Levi Laestadius's criticism of Church and priesthood.
Author(s): Norderval, Øyvind.
Date: 2000.
Publisher: Tromsø, Norway: UiT
Language: Norwegian.
In: Vekkelse og vitenskap. Lars Levi Laestadius 200 år. (2000.),
Abstract: Laestadians'(L's) approach can appear self-contradictory. On one side, they are very critical of books, liturgy and changes, seen as at war with truth. On other side, they are faithful to Church, going to its Masses, since laity cannot hold these, and even if babies are baptised at home, they still go on Sunday for priest's blessing. Recent developments in Norwegian Church are difficult, such consequences of ecumenism and laity involvement as women priests and debate on homophile partnerships. Gulf between revived laity and open folk Church has never been greater. Sections: L3's analysis of community; L3's assessment of Church's situation in Sweden; front against "rationalism"; front against "real Lutherans", who had sided with rationalists in attempt to avoid splits; conclusion - no sign of breakaway at present.
